Today we headed to the Observatoire de la Capitale for some nice views over Quebec City. Just before getting there we stopped off to have a look at the Quebec National Assembly which is just infront of the observatory. It was designed by Eugene-Etienne Tache and is one of the world`s oldest parliamentary institutions. It is a much prettier building than the observatory which just looks like your bog standard dull office block. It was only 5 dollars to go up to the top (31st floor) and there was really nice 360 degree views of the city. The building is 725 feet above sea level and is the highest point in the capital. All the way around there is information detailing 400 years of the city`s history. It was worth a visit.
After this we headed back to the hostel for lunch and then got ready to head back out to the German Christmas/Winter market, or Marche de Noel Allemand, or Deutscher Weihnactsmarkt! This is the 3rd year they have put the market on. I was really hoping for some hot or mulled wine and crepes and Kelly was hoping for the wine and roast chestnuts. We happily both got what we wanted :) It was a lovely market and it looked so pretty in the evening with all the lights and Christmas trees. The only downside was that it wasn`t very big, we were able to walk around the whole thing quite quickly. It was well worth a visit though.
