We are now in Whistler. We caught the 1pm Greyhound from Vancouver and travelled along the sea to sky highway passing through some really beautiful picturesque scenery; mountains, forests, rivers and streams etc. It only took us 2 hours and 20 minutes to get here. Our hostel is pretty amazing. It was built as part of the olympic village and because it's so new and so clean it feels more like a hotel. The room we're in is a dorm of 4. There is a huge dining room, kitchen, tv room and common room.
We dropped off our bags and caught a bus in to Whistler village. It's so pretty; all the buildings have that ski lodge/log cabin feel about them, you can see the mountains in the background, some of the leaves on the trees have turned bright red, and at night it's all twinkly with lights wrapped around the trees.
The snow hasn't arrived yet so although it was still fairly busy tonight I would imagine that is nothing compared to what it will be like in a month or two when the ski season starts. I bet the village will have a real buzz to it.
We had dinner out this evening- we went to 'The Old Spaghetti Factory' which are dotted around quite a bit in Canada. It was lovely and really good value too. I love how when you sit down to eat the waitress brings over a warm loaf of bread and garlic butter! :) I had bread, a plate of salad, my main meal, a glass of coke, and a bowl of ice-cream (which comes with the meal!) for less than 17 dollars which I thought was really good. After dinner we wandered around the village and then made our way back to the hostel. We grabbed a load of leaflets for activities to do so we're going to look into that and see what we can get up to tomorrow.
