Thursday 24 December
The alarm doesn't go off. When Malcolm checks his phone it's dead and about 6:30am not the 5:30 am we were excepting. The cold weather has devastating, draining effects on phone batteries we've discovered! Malcolm decides to walk up the hill a bit anyway and see what he can see. I stay cozy in my bed. It's one of the only times I don't have to think about being cold! Malcolm orders breakfast in his way back to our room. I have one goal for today and that is to get my Christmas e-cards sent out. It's a big mission when the wifi is so slow and doesn't load things. We have breakfast. It's ok. But we feel it's a bit pricey for the quality and quantity in comparison with other places in Nepal. Malcolm goes out and sits in the sun while he writes his blog. I solider along and steps forward and back. We have noodles dry for lunch as there isn't power to heat the jug. I get done mid afternoon. Yay! Whew. We head out for a walk to warm up and end up buying some more noodles and some fruit. We plan to watch the sun, but it gets too cold and we head back and order dinner. Just before we go down frozen starts in the TV. I'm so excited. I was wanting to see it, but knew the wifi would never allow it. We have dinner and meet a couple from the USA who is staying for 6 days. They seem to know more about what's happening around and about. Back in our room I'm happy frozen is on, but soon the signal cuts out and doesn't come back. I'm so gutted. We prepare for showers. We are worried about the gas running out as the owner has to fire heat water for some of the other guests. The temp goes up hot, but it's not held and it slowly goes down again. We need the hot water to warm us for sleep!
