Went to Akihabara today and played in Electric Town.
It's so big. Shop after shop after shop with level after level after level of fun things. Gorgeous cameras and pretty phones and huge tvs and tiny laptops and weird electronic things that you never knew you wanted.
I just browsed at the start - it was a little overwhelming, but then I got into it and really started exploring building after building. I spent over an hour in one store alone. So tempted by so many things but I didn't buy any of it and then I finally got to the seventh floor and they had souveniers. I spent more than I should have there but oooh pretty things. I bought myself a lovely spearmint green silk kimono. The polyester ones were perfectly affordable but I really wanted the silk so I thought 'stuff it' and splured a little bit. Yay for duty free stores.
By the time I got back out to the street the number of girls on the street corners had trippled and for some reason as the sun went down and the day got colder they all took off their coats. The poor girls must have been freezing. But it was very much an 'I'm in Japan!' moment.
