Hello!
What a day! Lol I don't even know where to start!
Bright and early start this morning, the thunderstorm has passed and all that is left now is humidity to the days! It seriously must be like one zillion % humidity here!
Caught a bumpy little bus to the falls which didn't take long. Once there (with like the other million tourists that go each day) we walked along to the main platform.
Now yesterday when I mentioned about this being mosquito country, I didn't realise that it was also butterfly country. And jesus christ do I hate butterflies! Well, hate isn't the right word, more like fear! I don't know what it is (but have a feeling it stems back from a trip to Butterfly Creek), I know they aren't/can't/won't attack me, but they freak me out. I don't like bugs, and definately do not like giant, creepy, flying bugs! So that was a slight issue as they were EVERYWHERE. Pretty colours and all that, but I spent most of the day running away and doing what would seem like crazy dances to get them off or away from me!
Next issue that arose was the fact that a) the falls are gianormous and high up and also b) to get to the falls we had to walk along a rusty old bridge over the river bit. Neither of these seemed like crash hot ideas to me. I'm sure most of you know I have a semi fear of heights! It all went fine, and the walk was actually enjoyable (aside from the butterflies) and I didn't fear for my life much.
Since we were on the Argentine side of the falls (they border Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay) we got to view them from the "Devil's Throat" which is basically right on the top edge looking down. It was an amazing view, and hard to describe. I took about 100 photos but none of them really do the falls any justice. Definately worth a visit though if you are ever in this part of the world!
After that we spent a couple of hours doing the two walks to different viewing platforms which give you a view of the falls like halfway down and then close to the bottom. Definately a spectacular sight to watch!
Amongst all this, during our lunch I had a run in with a bee! I wore loose clothing as you're meant to to avoid mosquitos (Apparently. I was listening to this advice cause I am trying my hardest to avoid malaria!) and somehow a b****** bee/wasp got up my top. It probably would have been fine but I freaked out once I felt something flying up my back LOL and started flailing around like a mad-woman and thus got stung. STUNG! Now I know this isn't a major but it's my first sting ever! And it was decidely average I have to say! Ouchie.
Anywho, we are back at the hostel now and on the road again tomorrow. As Cherie said, we probably won't be in contact for another year or so because we will be on a million bus transfers trying to get our asses up to Brazil! It is going to be quite the mish and a half but we will do it and it will be amazing!
Will update you guys with the travel plan next time I can.
Love love love xxxx
