It's been a while...sorry I just haven't known what to write. Not this last weekend but the weekend before I went with my roommate and a couple guys from the Netherlands to Budapest. We left around noon on Saturday and spent the night. On Sunday we went on a city tour and saw some really amazing things. At one point in the tour we went to the top of this mountain/hill where we got to look down on the city. The Danube River runs right through the city so that was beautiful to see. Since we only had the one day to explore we just decided to do the tour on the bus and then go to the thermal baths in the afternoon. There were about 15 pools inside with various temperatures and 3 pools outside. The pools all had different minerals in them and were supposed to be really good for your skin. I just felt like I was swimming in dirty bath water with a bunch of fat people but oh well. At least I can say I got to go to baths that were really old. I guess they're still left from the Roman Empire or something like that. I'm not completely sure. This last weekend I went on a trip to Maribor, Slovenia. It was about an hour by train but there wasn't anything to see. It was advertised I guess because it was a cheap trip so now I can say I've been to Slovenia. There wasn't really anything to see so we basically sat around and tried different wines all day. There was one place we went where we got to see the wine cellar in which they produce the wine. That was really neat. I've never seen one before!! I'm hoping I can go to another vineyard and see some more. Then we went to eat and to another wine place where there was a wine tasting happening. That was about the highlight of the trip to Slovenia. I'm hoping to get up to Vienna sometime soon and down to Venice as well. I'm not sure how far Venice is on the train but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to get there. My roommate and I are getting along really well so far which is great. She's from London so we have English in common. We're complete opposites though. I guess its true when they say opposites attracts. Her style is completely different but I think we have similar opinions on certain things. She's rather easy to talk to which is nice. I have four other people who I share the apartment with. Three are from Czech Republic and the other from Spain. Two of them are guys and the other two are girls. They're all really nice people. The two guys from Czech know some English but I find I'm having to talk slower with them so they can understand me. The girl from Czech knows English pretty well. She just spent the last four months in the states working. The girl from Spain doesn't know English really at all. So its kind of difficult to talk with her but she's very polite and at least tries to speak some English. I started classes today but only had one today. I was in Soil Forming Processes. I guess I was supposed to have taken another class before it but I'm taking it at the same time so I think I have some extra stuff to work on but I think I'll be able to manage it. I have two German courses tomorrow and I think Applied Mineralogy or Petrology I'm not sure. Hopefully those classes will go well.
Bis zum nächsten Mal, Auf Wiedersehen!!
