We arrived into Shanghai around 11.30am and caught taxis to the hotel. We checked into the hotel and this time I shared with Ruth, which was good as I'd been on my own so far, so it was nice to have someone to talk to.
We met in the lobby for lunch then our orientation walk. Lillian took us to a restaurant around the corner, which was good as we were all starving. The food was really good and we even got to try a local desert, which was sweet potato with caramelized sugar on it. You eat it by taking a piece and dipping it into the water which then hardens the sugar making it crunchy.
After lunch Lillian took us for a walk around Shanghai. She took us to a memorial, which had a great view of the city. She then showed us the Bund, where all the old buildings where located. Then she showed us the main shopping district. Afterwards I then came back to the hotel where Ruth was sound asleep as she was not feeling the best. I to decided that a sleep would be nice so I jumped into bed and had a nap for a few hours before having to meet the group at 6.30pm for the acrobats.
At 6.30pm we met the group and went to the acrobats, which was an amazing show. The flexibility of the acrobats was pretty amazing but some of the other acts like the magic act was pretty tacky as well as the green laser show they put on at the end. After the acrobats some decided to go out but as I was still feeling crap I decided to go back to the hotel and sleep.
