With another early start we were off to see more of the amazing temples in Siem Reap. Esra didn't join us today so the group was very relaxed and chilled. A great day all round really. After looking at the Bayon Temple we went for lunch at a local restaurant in front of Angkor Wat. The food was so good, but the vendors trying to sell us stuff again surrounded us, and this time they were young kids. It was heartbreaking to see these kids forced to sell to tourists instead of being at school getting an education.
After lunch we headed back to the hotel for some relaxation. I ended up down by the pool with Marc and enjoyed a couple of beers before meeting the group later that day to go to the "Tomb Raider Temple". Not it's official name but it's where they filmed the movie of the same name.
Before leaving Matt told us that he was going to take us on a bit of a jungle walk to the temple, rather than going through the main entry, so we had to wear proper shoes. Getting to the path where we were to walk through the jungle, we came across a couple of puddles, well more like ponds as they were about calf deep. All of us just took our shoes off and walked through but not Esra, she decided that she didn't want to do that. Trying to convince her to walk across with not much luck we then started yelling at her to stop being such a princess and cross the dam puddle.
Getting tired of hearing her throw a hissy fit most of us walked off leaving her there, but Di being the great person she is she put her mum voice on and eventually convinced her to cross. Walking a little further along the track we eventually came out at the back of the temple. Walking through this temple was amazing. There were trees growing all over the walls and there were all these secret rooms that you could explore. Matt took us to one room which he like to call the Ghost Room and left us there. We had to then find our own way out.
Susan, Lindsay and I hid in one room so Esra couldn't find us, then once it was safe we started to make our way back out. We ran into Marc and joined forces into trying to get out. We ended up going back the way we came in, but soon found out that it was the wrong way and went back into the temple to find the correct way out. Eventually we made it back and found the group.
We were then taken to another temple to watch the sun set but again it was too cloudy so we couldn't really see it too well. Lindsay and I were sitting on top of the temple, when this little girl came up to us and started to ask us questions. General questions really, but then she asked us if we wanted "Boom, Boom", horrified by this we told her to never ask if anyone wants that, especially at her age.
We then left this little girl, which was kind of sad, especially after what she had just asked us, but we had to go as it was getting dark and we still had many slippery stairs to climb down to get back to the bus.
After a nice warm shower and a bit of a refresh we met the group and went back into the Khmer centre for dinner. Marc, Di, Graham, Eion, Marie and I went to a place called Cambodian BBQ. It was a really cool place, a bit expensive but the food was defiantly worth it. You cooked it yourself on one of those little BBQ's, which sit on your table. We had Snake, Crocodile, Goat, Kangaroo, Squid and Chicken. I ended up sharing with Marc and told him, as we were outdoors that it was the man's job to do the cooking but I ended up doing most of it.
After a great feed we met the rest of the group at the "Angkor Wat" bar for a few drinks before calling it a night.
