Hi All from Disneyland
The Icelandic volcano has stranded us in Los Angeles and prevented us from taking our intended flight to London … but in 'consolation' we've found Disneyland … Poor Kids!!!! ... on the upside our travel insurance is supposedly covering our accomodation whilst we sit here stranded but don't expect they'll be interested in covering the Disneyland costs.
YES we've been up and down roller coasters, water drops, space rides and the death drop, turned upside down and inside out, made to feel very ILL on a couple of rides but generally that's been after multiple consecutive rides!!!
Disneyland isn't busy, the longest wait time has been about 10 minutes max and the kids are buzzing!! Goose has joined us on a many of the rides except the most stressful carrying the health warnings but he knows his limits and uses coronary excuses to his absolute advantage!!!! ... and someone's gotta take the photo's.
Thursday night was calm and the fireworks display was on at 9.30pm - pretty amazing with the Disney Castle in the foreground and 'Tinkerbell' flapping her way across the skies on a wire, followed by 20 minutes of fireworks to 'Disney' themes and soundtracks.
We still have 3 days left of our 6 day Disney hopper ticket which we intend to use next week - not sure we'll survive.
We've bailed out of LA for the weekend … picked up a mustang convertible and have cruised down the coast towards San Diego … holed up in Carlsbad, a small town near the sea. We had a few dropped lips when we realized that our luggage struggled to fit in the small boot that comes with convertibles but with some sweat and perseverance by all willing participants we were soon on our way with the lid down … we're all now sporting sun burnt foreheads and faces from the drive down.
We're rebooked to fly to London on Thursday 29th so volcanoes willing we'll be on our way north … again thanks to you all for your return messages which we do read with daily interest and humour … the kids are really enjoying staying in touch with their mates … so for now it's over and out.
