General Vietnam
Firstly, thanks for the messages guys. we love to hear from everyone and actually get quite disappointed when we log on and dont have any ;0(
I am actually writing this from Cambodia where we have just arrived until tomorrow when we fly out to Bangkok. (Staying overnight there and flying to Hong Kong Christmas eve), so am a few days behind as always. Being back here means the temperature has risen again so am sweating my cheeks off. So there is one thing we can do and that is to go the Foerigners club and drink wine whilst overlooking the river and contemplating!!
Back to Vietnam. We got such a good deal on our hotel room there. Its called Madame Cuc and is ran by the most lovliest group of girls. We had hot water (believe me that is a luxery over this way), T.V ( I even watched Vietnams Next Top Model the other day), air con and breakfast and dinner included in the price. All for $15 a night. a backpackers delight.
Vietnam does not seem as poor as Cambodia even once you're out of the city and I have noticed fewer dogs. Now before you think what I think you will think I have not seen Dog anywhere on anyones menu, unless of course its been under its assumed name of pork. However, I overheard a Canadian Man tell his friend that he had seen dog ready to be BBQ'd the previous evening. A whole dog, dead of course, intact but without fur. i am not sure where he witnessed this but my guess would be the food area in the night market.
Saigons city parks are used for relaxing and exercising and ona few occasions we have saw people dancing, playing badmington and doing aerobics. All in groups and at set times. its a real social occasion over here and it must work as no-one is over weight. I bought a vest top the other day and had to buy XL, i was not amused. How does a nation stay so slim? The parks activities must help.
the food here is similar to Cambodia where your menu will have everything from local food to western menu's and we have succumoned to the Pizza munchies twice since being in Vietnam. Tut tut.
