Well we survived our first train journey and arrived in Zhongwei at 9:30 this morning!
The chinese trains are far better then we expected and network rail could even learn a thing or too! the beds are really comfortable and a little lady comes and tidys your cabin (even in the middle of the night.. yay!) and fills a flask of hot water etc...
Anways today we took yet another form of random transport... a sheep skin raft down the yellow river and when i say sheep skin, yes i do really mean sat on a series of blown up sheep stapped together, and yes the yellow river is truely yellow with silt and chemicals... ummm lovely!
But it was a great trip and very relaxing..
This evening we went to the night market to get food and settled down to the hugest plate of delicious noddles which cost 4RMB the quivalent of roughly 25p!
Tomorrow we will be up pretty early again to head out into the Tenger desert for our camel safari and overnight camp. Both Freya and i have already ordered the beers in for when we get there to numb the pain of four hours on a camel!
catch up with you all again soon
love ally and freya xxxx
