When booking my flight to Vegas I hadn't quite realised that I'd booked it for September 11th but everything went smoothly at security and I boarded my plane on time.
Within a few minutes of sitting on the plane, they told us that there was a storm in Vegas and so our flight was delayed by an hour but we could go back into the waiting room if we wanted. So, that's what I did, an hour later we get back on the plane go out onto the runway and are then again told that our plane is now delayed by another hour. I won't bore you but basically rather than getting into Vegas at 3, I got there at 8, fantastic!!
I got a taxi to the hotel and met Margaret and Eimar (from Ireland) in the apartment: it was really nice and had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a lounge where there was a sofa bed so this became my bedroom.
They had been out all day so after a quick chat they headed off to bed and I enjoyed a double bed and a tv watching friends until the early hours of the morning.
The next morning, they said they were going to sunbathe by the pool for most of the day which initially I didn't fancy until I felt the heat and realised walking round in it would be horrible. It was so hot I had to keep going in and out the pool but it was actually a really chilled out day and I got to top up my tan.
That night, myself and Eimar headed out to the strip; we started at treasure island where we watched what can only be described as an adult pirate show, very strange, then we checked out the Venetian which is all decorated like Venice with canals, gondolas and opera singing, loved it!
Then we went to Paris which has an Eiffel tower built outside and is actually built into the building which was pretty cool and you get an awesome view of the Bellagio, which was our next stop.
So, the Bellagio is famous for the water shows it has outside where they time jets of water to music and it's been featured in loads of films so I was super excited. We got into a good place quickly as it gets super busy and then the show began, each show is different, and the one I saw was done to 'Frank Sinatra - Fly me to the moon' it was just perfect and seemed like the perfect song, it was so beautiful to the point where I felt like I could have burst into tears because I just couldn't believe that I was actually here in Vegas witnessing this!!
The rest of the night we just walked down the whole strip going into all the casino's and stores that we passed. In one casino; I bet $20 on roulette, on my first bet I put it on red as my favourite number is 7, charl's is 3 and they were both red, I won $10 so bet it again and basically lost it all in three go's haha, luckily I knew when to walk away.
After, I'd checked everywhere out we headed back to the hotel as I had to be up at 5am for my trip to the grand canyon but i definitely do like Vegas and would come back because it's just so much fun.
