Even though we had headed back to the hotel early I somehow ended up with only two hours sleep and had a five hour drive to the Canyon ahead of me.
I got picked up by my bus, we were all given juice and a Danish for breakfast and then we headed off towards the Grand Canyon. The driver had kindly pointed out the sun to me because being English we don't know what it looks like, HA! You're hilarious, not! Then he asked me why I was on my own which was when I first realised how backpacking is still quite unusual here.
On the way to the Grand Canyon we went to Hoover Dam which I loved and thought was really impressive! Then I slept! Next stop was the visitors centre outside the Grand Canyon where we were given pizza for lunch and then I just sat in the sun while we waited to board the bus again. The driver had told us all that we had to be at the bus at the times he said because we were on such a tight schedule and when we boarded the bus two girls were missing and so he just drove off, it was pretty hilarious and I loved that he stuck to his word (they ended up being picked up by another tour company that brought them to the canyon)
We got to the Grand Canyon national Park and the south rim of the Canyon at a lookout called Mathers point.
I walked down a path to the lookout and as you first see the canyon it really is breathtaking; of course I knew it was massive but it really does stretch further than you could even imagine and the colours of the rock are just beautiful. I took a ridiculous amount of pictures that will never ever do the canyon any justice of how beautiful it is, then walked round a path to where there was a section that you could walk right out onto but because I was on a strict time allowance I didn't get to go all the way out which did anyway look pretty scary.
We got back onto the bus and then drove to Bright Angel, another lookout point. Again, it was really beautiful but by this point because I was on my own, i got a bit bored because I couldn't really talk about it or anything so I bought an ice cream, sat in the sun and stared at it, happy days!!
After two hours at the Grand Canyon, we then had to head back because it was again a five hour drive back.
I slept some more, spoke to some Irish people that lived in New York, wasn't lucky enough to get an invite to anything this tour haha!
We got back into Vegas at 1030 and I'd been out since 6am so I collapsed into my bed.
