Woke up with not as bad a headache as I was expecting and we decided to go for a very American breakfast at a diner called Black Bear.
Anna and Ben both ordered biscuits and gravy and I ordered French toast with eggs and bacon, it was actually really tasty and not as big a portion as you'd expect. Anna told me I had to taste biscuits and gravy, which is basically a bit like scones covered in a gravy which is made from sausage/bacon fat and mixed with flour so it's actually a white gravy, sounds gross right? It tasted like dumplings with a white sauce on top that left an aftertaste of sausage fat!! It wasn't that bad but I'm definitely in no rush to eat it again!
After that, we drove into Sonoma which is a really nice wine village right near Anna's house and we did two more wine tastings just cause we could, what a life hey!
This afternoon was Anna's work party to celebrate the start of harvest and picking the grapes for the wine; Anna's boss had organised tickets for them all to go see the giants play baseball and had super super kindly got me a ticket when they found out I was coming, super nice!!
So we went and met some of Anna's colleagues and all got on the minibus to drive us to the park; on the bus they handed out free beer and wine and so the drinking continued. But then, about 10minutes from the park, me and Rachel one of Anna's colleagues both suddenly needed the toilet very badly and we were stuck in solid traffic.
Around 15minutes later, we were both able to even sit remotely still and as we were driving into the car park for the baseball park we asked the driver to let us out so we could go find somewhere to pee. We ran out the bus and I followed Rachel towards what I thought would be a portaloo but instead she just ran behind a red truck that was parked up and started weeing behind so at the point I was so desperate that I just joined in and pee'd behind a truck outside the San Francisco giants stadium, definitely a highlight of my trip haha.
Feeling like a new woman, I met up with everyone and we all went into the park and found our seats, then was horrified when I got charged $10 for a beer!!
One of the first things I noticed in the stadium was that right behind us were some LA dodgers fans, and apparently in all sports in America the fans are seated together: made me realise how truly thuggish out football fans are and how much trouble we have at games when all you get here is a little bit of heckling.
Very stereotypically, a little girl was now brought out onto the field and she began to sing the national anthem: at that point everyone stood up put their hand on their heart and started singing along! I'm still not sure now if it was a nice moment or just a very stereotypical patriarchal moment; it was pretty intense and slightly humorous but it's also nice to be in a country where it's okay to be proud and say "yes I love my country" because we're just too scared to ever say that in England.
More beer was drank, i nearly left my passport and purse in the toilet, rum was introduced, a hot dog was eaten (beef sausage, tut) and baseball was sort of watched!!! It lasted 4hours and the score was only 4-0, don't really get that!! But it was an awesome American day, and San Francisco won so we all went crazy and I had a really good time.
We got the bus back to Sonoma and then I went to bed because I was knackered!!!!
The next day I did some laundry, Anna drove me back to San Francisco, we had dinner at some diner and then I just chilled out at the hostel for the rest of the evening!
