Today the 7 of us and a couple from somewhere Spanish, I wasn't really paying attention lol, hired some boats to take us round inle lake.
So we had breakfast and then met our boat men!! Climbing in these long tail boats always freaks me out as they rock side to side and knowing my luck it'd be me falling in.
As we went down the river there was loads of locals washing in the lake or washing clothes, people transporting boatfuls of vegetables and lots of men fishing. The fishing is astonishing as they perch themselves on the edge of the boat and then use their foot to hold the oar and move the boat as he fishes, really skillful.
The day included a stop at a silversmith which was really impressive to see them hand make silver and the people were really nice. The pieces were so pretty and unique aswell.
The next stop was someone hand weaving so I felt like I'd seen this before, although they were also weaving with lotus flower which looks like a stick then when they snap it a thread comes out its really amazing!!
They were selling the smallest scarves of lotus flower for $70 so we all had a heart attack and left. Next stop was where they make cheroot, which was really cool to see and the girls there were handmaking one cigar every 45 seconds all in different sizes, the place really smelt though!!!
Then we went for lunch which was overpriced and a bit bland but the boat driver obviously gets commission to take us somewhere. After this we went through what they call the floating village and well it says what it is, all the houses are on stilts in the middle of the lake, there's literally no land, like to get to your neighbours for a cuppa your gonna have to take your boat, what a ball ache lol!! Really impressive though to think they were all built in the water!!
The rest of the day was a bit rubbish, we went to some pagoda which we'd all seen plenty of already and then went to this monastery where monks make cats jump.. Yep, I'm sure your face is as blank as mine was. We sat around waiting for ten minutes in a pissy room which stank, and then some woman who clearly wanted to be anywhere in the world but here came out, shook a ring, the cat jumped through, she gave it a treat, did this three four times then got up and sloped off .... What the hell!!! Maybe Burmese cats don't normally jump, but Suzanne's cat used to jump in the Christmas tree and play with the baubles!!! We were all baffled...
Then we went back to the village, which of course consisted of me falling asleep and burning my knees and nose!! So cool!! Although Matthew got a pretty nice white vest look to go with his red chest and arms haha!!
Then we all said bye to Catherine, chilled out for a bit and then went to eat at an Italian where I had an amazing carbonara, so so good!!! We played a few rounds of s***head and then everyone went to bed!!!
