hello humans

As you can see i am catching up with my blogs. Rainbow Beach was a small place with a nice beach. We arrived on the Greyhound quite early in the morning if i remember rightly. I also remember being told that the weather was also meant to be getting colder as i go down the coast but it was still in the high 20oC, which was fine by me.

We ran into a few guys in 1770 (Ian and Joe) and found out that they were doing the same Fraser Island trip through Dingos (hostel). We had already booked our Fraser Island trip in Cairns. The Fraser Island trip we booked was 2 day, 2 night and a self drive one, which means you and a group of about 10 people get your own land rover to drive around on the biggest sand island in the world!

The company we booked it through had about a 2 hour talk before we set off explain all the safety information etc. The guy that did our talk was a guy called Merv lol, what a character. Some of his one liners and comments about fellow Australians i will never forget! Some of course are a bit rude to be made public but as Merv said 'Why should I lie to you?'. On Fraser Island there are also alot of Dingos (big wild dogs) some can be quite aggressive and are not afraid of humans. Merv's suggestion that if you come across a Dingo you should Stomp on the ground and yell "Go home Dingo". It became quite a joke among everyone, especially to scare some of the girls by suggesting a dingo was right out side there tent! Also while on the island we saw some snakes, one OZY visitor found one and killed it because it was right in the middle of the camp. The Fraser Island trip was an amazing trip, the people in our group were great and the company did a really good job with the tents and the food etc.
