Hello all!
Sorry I have gotten bad about keeping everyone up to date about my trips! Finally I am going to update you on my Amsterdam adventure! So far Amsterdam has been my favorite city. It is a beautiful city and there is so much to do there. We stayed busy the whole time we were there and loved every minute of it! We arrived on Saturday and decided to get to the 2 big museums first to get them out of the way!!! We went to the Van Gogh museum which was pretty neat. I was able to see the Starry Night, Sunflowers, and The Potato Eaters! Then we moved on to the Rijksmuseum. This museum houses a ton of artifacts from Amsterdam's history. To be honest I didn't know half of the things Amsterdam has been involved in until this trip… they have an amazing history! By the time we finished both museums it was dinner time and then bed time! On Sunday we started our day with a canal tour throughout Amsterdam. I am so glad we went on it because we were able to see most of Amsterdam on a guided tour! After the canal tour we needed something to wake us up (because being on a boat can make you sleepy!) so we headed to the Heineken Experience! This was my favorite site in Amsterdam… and not because it was all about beer, but that had a lot to do with it ;o) There was so much to do there. We learned all about Heineken beer (clearly!), we took a ride and learned what it's like to be a beer bottle, we got to taste the beer (yep that's right we got 3 free beers!!!), and we got go through all of the history of Heineken! It was pretty neat! After the Heineken factory we stumbled… I mean walked over to the Anne Frank house. WOW what it was like to actually be in the house. It humbles you being there. Ok maybe this was my favorite site… it's a tossup! We went into the house and saw a lot of history about the Holocaust. It was quite an experience. We then headed for some dinner and then to the casino!!! I am not much of a gambler… I lost 10 euro, got mad and made Audrey leave… we were there all of 15 minutes! On Monday we headed to the Jewish Museum. It was pretty neat; we were able to really understand why and where all of their rituals come from. The museum also showed the life the Jews had to live in Amsterdam… it wasn't easy! After that museum we got one more bite to eat and then it was time to come back to Castellanza. Now I am sure you can understand why we loved Amsterdam so much!!!
Everything is going well in Castellanza. This weekend most of the International Students are going on a ski trip… I'm not. If you have ever seen me ski you know why! Audrey and I are making a little trip ourselves to Prague!!! I am verrrrrrry excited! I will try to be better about keeping you all up to date! I miss everyone so much!!! Love you!
