PRAGUE!!! I loved it! If you ever get a chance to go to Europe, go to Prague! It is an absolutely beautiful city. It's not so much of a city with a TON of sights to see like Amsterdam (although Prague does have its fair share of sights), it's more of a city that you go to, to enjoy the architecture and atmosphere. The buildings are just so stunning. By the time Audrey and I got started on Saturday it was in the evening and there was a huge festival going on. We weren't too sure what the festival was all about, so we went to check it out! Turns out it was the beginning of their Easter festival (that's right on March 28th they were starting their Easter festival). We walked around and started our 3 day binge on FOOD! They have the best food in Prague. Just at the festival we ate a waffle (it was delicious), corn on the cob and some delicious pastry thing! We then headed over to a street that is famous for shopping. We walked around for a bit and then ate dinner! I had the traditional Czech meal: pork tenderloin, red cabbage and potato dumplings. It was delicious!
On Sunday we started early and went to one of the largest castles in Europe. There are 4 main things on the castle grounds: St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, Basilica of St. George and the Golden Lane. Of course we visited them all! If you care to hear more about them all… it's in the pictures!!! After the Castel we went to see probably the worst "Broadway" show ever! There were posters all over Prague about Cats, so I got excited and convinced Audrey to go (don't worry the tickets weren't expensive remember we are in Prague). We walked into the theater is oh my goodness it was TINY, but we didn't want to judge a book by its cover and just dealt with the size of the theater… well we were right to be suspicious! It was like a third grade presentation… Audrey and I were laughing the entire time… it was ridiculous. Afterwards we went and got a beer!
Monday was a pretty full day for us. We headed over to the Jewish Quarter for a full day of Jewish… everything! There are 7 sights in the Jewish Quarter: the Pinkas Synagogue, the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Ceremonial Hall, the Klaus Synagogue, the Old-New Synagogue, Maisel Synagogue and the Spanish Synagogue. Again if you care to hear more about the sights… refer to the pictures!!! After the Jewish quarter we walked over to the Little Quarter (or Lesser Town). There isn't much here except for the most amazing Cathedral I have ever seen. It is so amazing to see in person… to be honest it looks a little gaudy, but it is awesome! It is the Church of St. Nicholas.
All we had time for on Tuesday was to take a quite tour of the town hall. It was pretty neat because we were able to see how the big astronomical clock works, where they used to keep prisoners AND the ground level back in the day! It is now 15 feet below "the new Prague". Pretty neat, huh? That pretty much sums up my Prague trip! If you ever get a chance to go… GO! It is an amazing city!
Let's see Castellanza is treating me well! Mom and Stacey are coming tomorrow and I am about to pee my pants with excitement. I hope you enjoy looking at the Prague pictures… sadly they don't do the city justice! I love you all and will be back to update you on MOM and STACEY'S Italian adventure!!!!
Miss you :o(
