Alison's African Adventure
Hello!!!
I am in Vic Falls at the moment, spent the last three nights here, it has been so hectic but the weather has been fantastic.
Since my last update I have been kinda busy, we arrived after staying at someones house in Bulawayo – we actually had the use of a lounge with a tv so we were all chuffed!!
We then caught the overnight sleeper train from Bulawayo to Vic Falls. I didn’t wake up til we pulled into Vic Falls station, to see the rest of the truck on the platform through the window, so me and another two did the quickest ever pack up and get dressed to get off the train, not a nice way to wake up!!!
On the first day, slightly hungover I did the craziest thing ever, I vowed I wouldn’t do it but got talked into doing the third highest bungee jump in the world, 111m off of Victoria Falls Bridge! Incredible experience though!!! Not sure If I would do it again! Didn’t feel nervous until the guy started to count down and I was standing on the edge ready to jump!!! Next thing I knew I was so close to the water at the bottom of the gorge! Sorry Mum!!!
The next day I went White Water Rafting down the Zambezi, another incredible day, we had to walk down this huge gorge to get to the bottom, there were no steps, just a ladder made from branches that were all broken, so dangerous trying to get down, but we all made it! We did rapids 10 – 25, I didn’t fall out once!!! Although there were quite a few times I thought we were all going out. The water was just so powerful and fast. We did rock jumps off of the side of the gorge into the water which was pretty scary!! At the end we were all knackered but there was a cable car that took us back up to the top where we had lunch and best of all cold beers waiting for us!!!
Then I watched a few others doing some Gorge Swings the next day – too sore after the previous day to do any more extreme activities!!!! We went over to Zambia to see the falls, they are just immense, got absoluetly soaked!!! Cheers for the waterproofs Dad!!! Worked a treat!!! And today I have been to the fatal for the wallet craft markets, desperately trying to get rid of this monopoly money as you cant take it out of the country.
Tomorrow we are leaving Zim and heading to the Chobe River, where we are going to do a river cruise before heading towards the Okavango Delta for 3 nights. Prob wont be able to email until Namibia now, which should be another 5 days or so.
Take it easy everyone!!!!!
