Hello everyone!! I am in Arusha atm, we have had a hectic few days, after camping by the crater rim we woke up the next morning at 5.30 am (me in a pool of water!!) and started the drive up to the crater, it was so misty and huge trucks had gotten stuck on the treachorous road. it was well worth it as when we reached the crater rim and started the descent we were greeted by the most amazing view. words just cannot describe it, check out the photos when i stick them on here. looks like something out opf Jurassic Park. in the crater we saw Rhino, Cheetah, Elephant, Buffalo, Lion and loads of other animals. Was fantastic!!!! We then had lunch by the lake and one of the guys on our tour had his lunch stolen from his hand by a hawk, narrowly missing the four of us who were standing next to him!!! After lunch we then started the drive to the Serengeti where we bush camped!! this is real basic now, no running water, a long drop toilet (which takes some courage!!! spider egg casings on the ceiling!!! ew!!) and a boundary fence which consisted of a few stones. we were told it wasn't safe to leave the camp at night. we heard hyenas and lion at night although i had ear plugs in and somehow managed to sleep through it. the funny thing was that our asengai (Maasai Warriors) who were guarding the camp were tented in a caged hut, whereas the rest of us were in flimsy canvas tents!!! anyway i had a surprisingly good nights sleep and we woke up at 5.30again and went on a nother game drive. we saw a leopard sat in a tree (very few people get to see this so we were very very lucky!!) and a herd of 16 elephant. was just amazing. At lunch time we started the trip back to the snake park campsite where we had a barbecue. That brings me to today, haven't done much yet as it is only 11am!! gonna start the 2 day drive down to Dar before getting the Ferry over to Zanzibar!! Can't wait!! Will hopefully be able to email in a couple of days when we get there!! See ya all later!!!
