Busy, busy, busy best describes Tokyo. If you struggle with the London Underground then you'll gonna love the Tokyo Metro!! Small cities underground complete with shopping centres swarming with hundreds if not thousands of people.
We opted for some traditional style Japanese Ryokan. The rooms are very basic with a thin matress on the floor and a small pillow. The showers are communal (thankfully I was spared from seeing any naked men. Before you ask the women had separate showers).
In total we stayed in Tokyo for five days. There are a few must see sites such as the Imperial Palace which is closed to the general public but at least you can wander through the gardens and get a picture of the Meganebishi Bridge, the Tsukiji Fish Market and the Meiji-Jingu shrine (yep another reconstruction).
The city is split into a number of districts. We spent a lot of time just wandering about and getting a feel of the city. Ginza is the posh shopping area which is lit up in neon at night. We popped into The Sony Building which is basically a showpiece for all their new gadgets and gizmos. Trust me there are some pretty tasty LCD TVs on the way. The Sky Building gives unrivalled views of the city. Tokyo is also the home of the world's longest escalator (told you that would pop up again).
