Buenas Dias!

Today was our second day of school, but our first day of real classes, yippee! We got up nice and early and trekked down to the bus stop to catch the bus to campus, as its about a 20 minute bus ride. After arriving we settled down in our classroom and prepared ourselves for 3 full hours of pure spanish. Our first professor was very nice and easy to understand as was our last, but our second professor was near impossible to understand. I think I caught about 6 words that he said, but apart from that, nada. This will make for an interesting semester I'm sure. When school was over Katie and I headed back towards the bus stop, but our last professor (a nice 65 yr old man) stopped next to us in his car and offered us a ride, so after some hesitation we jumped in and sure enough he chatted nicely and dropped us off where we needed to go. What hospitality! After walking back to our casa, we took a quick siesta and then had lunch!

Around 530 in the afternoon we met up with our group to go climb a mountain!! When I say mountain, I do in fact mean a small mountain. It takes about 30 minutes of walking up a very, very inclined hill, but when you reach the top it is all worth it. We were able to see the whole of caceres, and evern beyond that, it was actually one of the most beautiful things I had yet to see. We then moved on to taking hundreds of pictures of the view and of ourselves, but after the sun set the temperature dropped quite a bit and we began out descent down the mountain. When we reached the bottom, a small group of us continued on to a small pastry shop that katie and I had discovered that made the best pastries we had ever tasted. So of course, we indulged in one as a reward for climbing the mountain!

After this long and exhausting day, we headed back home once again, ate dinner and went straight to bed. Tomorrow we are touring the old part of the city!
