So I have been here in wonderful Spain for 2 days already but it feels like I have been here for much longer! After a successful day of random orientation yesterday, I came home with a bus pass and a library card, yay! After learning all of the basics about Caceres we were set free for the rest of the weekend! So after a short siesta Katie and I met up with the rest of the group and we headed to the old town part of caceres. It is an area filled with beautiful architecture and large plazas, so we sat outside at one of the bars and drank sangrias and took it all in!
After sleeping in late today, Katie and I accompanied Lola to el mercado, which is a market with fresh fish and meat. As a person who has a great disdain for fish this was not one of my favorite experiences so far but it was still a new and educating experience. We saw all types of sea food, and other meat delicacies such as a cows toungue, pigs feet, and also pigs ears, YUMMY! Luckily, we only walked away with normal beef meat and some smelly fish. We then ventured to el parque de el rodeo which is a huge area of land with sand pathways and a large pond and a waterfall, muy bonita! We walked all over then around back to our house to eat lunch, then after another lovely siesta we met up with our group once more and headed to a festival!
The festival was called sol y musical festival, and there was live music and drinks, so we hung around for a bit before realizing it was mostly older people at that time, so we left and went.... shopping! We were on a hunt for boots for katie and successfully found them, then found a bar where we had tostados, which are tiny teenie sandwiches that are very delicious!
After this very long day we were exhausted and decided to hang back at our casa tonight and sleep in tomorrow, as we have school on monday! Hasta Luego mis amigos!!
