Hey!
I've been away from the computer for ages, we've been travelling between Darwin and Cairns. It's taken days but finally got here! Everyone on the tour is really nice, everyone is friendly and our tour guide is also great. We've been camping since Saturday night, it's Friday now, and we finally have a hostel tonight which is great! On the tour we take it in turns to cook, there are 7 of us in total, plus our tour guide and plus a trainee tour guide. We've eaten really well, first night we had a BBQ, then we've had everything from tacos to curry etc. We have a food kitty too so all is good.
When we left Darwin on Sat we went to a 'jumping crocodile' tour which was amazing, the crocs recognise the feeding boats now and they were jumping for the meat that the guide was hanging over the edge, it was quite scary! They are massive, and we learnt loads about how they live etc. Really interesting.
We then went to Kakadu National Park and camped there. Camping is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, the tents are fine and so far the facilities so far have been fine too. Kakadu national park is huge, it's nearly the size of belgium! We saw lots of aboriginal art, and we watched some amazing sunsets. Also we went to a place called 'Mataranka Hot Springs' where we went swimming. The water was so warm, it was lovely! I had to cook tea that night with my cooking partner, Claire, and we cooked Salmon and potatoes and veg - reminded me of home! Was good. When we had breakfast the next day there were wallabys just hopping about too which are really cute!
We also had our Bush Camp a couple of nights ago, but we still had our tents etc we just had no toilet or showers etc. It was actually the best night sleep I've had so far! Didn't see any bugs thankfully. We had a bonfire after tea and we joined up with our guide's brother who was also taking a group around, I've put the pictures up, people were playing didjeridos and we were just relaxing around the fire. The sky was so clear and the stars were really bright too. Really good night.
Last night we went to stay with this person called Russell, who puts on this 'snake show'. He has maybe 20 snakes? He talked us through them, showed us the deadliest snake in the world, and then got us to hold them! I only held the python, but other people held a couple others which were slightly more active, I was lucky that 'Clancy' wasn't too fidgity!! We then had tea there and watched TV before going to bed.
Today we've just finished driving to Cairns, going out for some food tonight as our trainee tour guide, Luke, leaves us tomorrow to start his own tour.
Hope everyone is well back home, and Mum/Steve, Nanny/Grandpa and Angela/Phil hope you've had a good time in Croatia!!
Tomorrow we are going to the Great Barrier Reef and then the day after I may be doing my sky dive! Don't worry it's perfectly safe!
Miss you lots xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
