The last two weeks have been a bit mad but as a general rundown:
Krakow- spent three days here, in a very busy hostel with lots of really nice people so I wasn't bothered about being on my own for the first time. Had a tour of the city, visited salt mines, went to Aushwitz and also got a bit of Krakows nightlife.
Warsaw- I mucked up trains and things a little bit getting to Warsaw so ended up arriving at 4am and then had to find my hostel. It was a very nice one but much quieter and I was starting to come down with something so didn't actually get to see all too much of Warsaw. Had plenty of time to walk around it all though as there wasn't very much in the way of sights as 80% of the city was destroyed in the war!
Vilnius- I really liked Vilnius and would definately have liked to have stayed there longer but due to visa dates I had to leave for Russia after only one night there. However I did actually have 2 full days so got to see a fair amount of the city. The night I was there, there were massive celebrations in the central square as Lithuania had come 3rd in the basketball world cup. So got to see the Lithuanian team and there was loads of live music and people about. It had a really good atmosphere and was such a nice thing to get in on.
St Petersburg- I arrived here by night train which was actually better than I expected as it was pretty quiet, though I was sharing with an old Polish guy who had absolutely no English at all and went to bed at 8.30!! For those of you that weren't aware I had a few problems meeting up with Tom as he got lost for 12 hours and was out of all contact with anyone. So that made for an interesting start to my birthday but in the evening got taken out by some Russians who worked/owned the hostel, and that made up for the day time. So I have now been in St Petersburg 6 days and have seen a large amount of the sights including the Peter and Paul Fortress, a number of cathedrals and churches (the one in the picture was really amazing), the Winter Palace and Hermitage and on Saturday I went to see Swan Lake at the Mariinsky theatre. Managed to get good seats for it, and really enjoyed it. Tonight we are going to an art gallery/studios/bar for a while before we have to get a train at 1.30am to Moscow.
Thankyou for all the birthday messages.....they are so appreciated.xxxxxxx

Arntee Elaine Hi Alice, gosh you are cramming alot in, it all sounds most wonderful. How many photo's have you taken...would be good to see some of them ! The post card you send of the Disney Castle has arrived, thanks, I hope you sang a song for me while you were doing the Sound of Music trip. I notice that alot of your travelling seems to take place at night is that to save money? We are all well, tho Lottie has been spending abit of time at the vets, Heidi and Ned are feeling well neglected as you would expect. We have bought a laptop but haven't fired it up yet......no further progress with the hen house. Lovely to read your blog and follow your travels. Take care and enjoy. Lots of Love Uncle Trevor and Arntee ElaineXX
alice We sang ALL of the songs on the tour....the lady that took us around was in costume and everytime we drove anywhere she put the music on so that we could all sing!!! As to the travelling at night it is to save money on a night at a hostel & it also means that I don't just waste days travelling and the time on trains goes much much faster. I imagine the whole of Evesham knows that Heidi feels neglected, she wouldn't let something like that go unheard of! Now you have skype up and running (sort of) in the office I hope to be able to talk to you soon...lots of love, alice.xxxxx
