The last couple of days have been spent in the Okavango delta, in Botswana. After spending a night in Maun, we were picked up by a truck and taken to where we would meet our mokoros. Mokoros are boats, like dugout canoes, hollowed out of tree trunks and are truly the most relaxing thing in the world! Each seats two people (lying on sleeping mats) and a poler, and as you travel low in the water, with the reeds above you, the only noise is the front of the boat breaking through the water, and movement of the poles (or the singing of the polers). When we arrived we set up camp, our first proper bush camp (they dug us out a toilet, which we had to shovel dirt onto after using). We were able to swim in one of the watering holes, as it hadn't rained recently so the crocodiles and hippos were elsewhere. We went on a couple of game walks, and although we only saw more of the animals we'd already seen (elephant, zebra, giraffe, impala) it's a completely different experince seeing them without the safety of a truck to speed you away. Although we're still desperate to see leopard, I think most of us were pretty glad there weren't any on the game walks- the hyenas prowling around the camp at night where bad enough! The last night was a huge lightning storm- during which one of our group was actually struck by lightning, but luckily he seemed ok after half an hour or so. It was an impressive storm, although the lightning striking the tree right in the centre of our camp, and the wet tents ruined it a little bit. Later today a few of us are going for a scenic flight over the delta, in five seater planes, which should be an experience as I've never been in a plane that small. Tomorrow we cross the border into Namibia,
