I figured I should make the most of my short twenty-two-odd hours here so this afternoon - after lugging all my gear on and off three different trains, up 92 steps and along the street to my "hotel" all because I was too cheap to store it overnight at the airport - I caught the subway into the city. After a crepe au fromage and a snack from la boulangerie for dinner, I went to Notre Dame Cathedral and attended a mass. That place is incredible: really high ceilings, full of people and traditions. And with its many candles, its incense, statues and organ, it's a little different in style from church we went to in Kilifi, just over a week ago. And different again from the churches I went to in Thailand.

But all for the same purpose.
