Today has been an imense day of travelling. we watched the football last night in a very plush hotel in Batu ferringhi where we got ripped off for a round of drinks and spent the rest of the night having a great Indian meal and shopping at the streets and streets of cheap markets.
The next morning we left Batu Ferringhi, getting back on the local bus and heading to Georgetown again, centre of Penang. We booked our bus to the islands but had to wait for hours as it left at 9pm. We got quite bored and ended up at the cinema for the afternoon.
We then got a local bus to the main terminal and waited another few hours for our Express Bus to Kota Bhuru. The bus was comfortable but the driver went really fast and I didn't get much sleep. We arrived at 4am then had to get a taxi to Kuala Besuh for the ferry which took another hour. We waited another few hours for the first ferry to cross and finally arrived on Kecil of the beautiful Perhentians at 8am. Pretty crazy day and I didn't sleep for a whole 2 days.
We got ourselves some accommodation but its busy here and our chalet was the last left with a bathroom (a bathroom with no taps on the sink, no hot water and no flushing toilet, hmm). That said, it doesn't really matter coz the room is a sauna and we've hardly been back there during the day.
I spent a while on the beach and the rest of the day chilling out in a cafe on the beach chatting to Emma and Emily who we met on the sppedboat over. I think we had breakfast, lunch and dinner sat in the same place but it was great to relax.
in the evening we took a walk down the beach to another bar and had a few drinks with the girls before crashing out at 1.
The island is lovely, it the smaller and more popular of the 2 Perhentians, is extremely hot but has gorgeous clear waters and a very calming atmosphere about it. Plus all the people working here are great and so so friendly. My paradise.
