We started out our day a little behind... We (Ali) thought we had to be down stairs ready to go at 8:40am, but since we go a new schedule that we didn't write down we were actually supposed to be there at 7:40am. Oops. But our tour lady called us to make sure we were coming. We had planned to head down by 8 anyways cause we thought we would get breakfast. So we were lucky that we were ready and just jumped on the bus.
We rode over to see the Alaskan Pipeline and we learned about the permafrost and why the pipes are elevated (so the animals can still migrate around).
Then we got back on the bus and headed to do a little Gold Mining! We got to ride a train and go in a permafrost tunnel and different actors talked about mining. Then we got off the train to watch a demonstration on gold panning. The man showing us how it was done had an awesome beard and looked like a genuine mountain man. After that, we got to pan our own gold! Peter found $10 worth and I found $16 worth!
Then we jumped back on the bus and headed to downtown Fairbanks.
We walked around downtown and ate at a place called the Fudge Pot. We both had yummy sandwiches and I had salmon chowder. After getting a few stickers and pins we got back on the bus at 2 and off we went on our way to Denali!

Aunt Meme This is so cool to hear about your adventures! Thanks Peter and Ali for letting us have a little bit of fun with you while on your trip! Samantha, Liza Jane and a friend are talking to boys in Greece on the computer...Wow! I tried to put Nicole's Barbie in the screen but the girls threw her across the room..don't know why? Ha! Have fun! Take plenty of pictures!
Momma and Dad The gold mining sounds like so much fun. How cool...you really found some. This trip is worth more than all the gold in Alaska. What a great choice for a honeymoon!!! xoxoxox
