Hello there!
So the first two days I just walked and walked and walked. Checked into the hostel which wasn't bad, but was not was what I was expecting. Just small things like we were given our sheets and had to make our own bed - which isn't a big deal. I was in a 9 bedroom dorm consisting of 3x3 bunks and most of the people I was sharing with were French.
The showers were tiny! Not much, no, NO room to move and had to change in front of everyone, but it was a female bathroom so buy the second day it didn't matter. The hostel is in Russell Square, fantastic location.
When I went walking, it was a beautiful day, and I walked to Trafalgar Square and it was awesome. There were old buildings and fountains and statues and I thought - I'm here. Finally.
Bye the end of the day my feet were throbbing!
I met some guys from Melbourne on the second day and went and had a beers with them. Met Jillian Salter for dinner that night and didn't get home til quite late.
Third night went out with Jillian again and went out with the people I'd met at the hostel afterwards.
On Friday I got up early (after 3 hours sleep) to go get Michael from the airport. Heathrow airport have 5 terminals, 1,2 and 3 are at one stop then 4 and 5 at seperate stops again. I went to the wrong terminal! Very frustrating. Although the transport here is AMAZING. Nothing can compare. Trains and buses arrive every 5 minutes and it's incredibly easy to get around. That day we walked around and went to the pub, again!
Saturday again involved heaps of walking and Saturday night we went to Acton which is where Tom - a friend of mine who I use to work with lives. He took us to a nightclub and we crashed at his - alot of fun. I won't go into details but drinks are insanely cheap.
Monday we went to the British Museum with Chris (guy from Melbourne) and saw alot of cool old stuff. Easy to get lost in and too much to see!
Tuesday we checked out and went to Paddington where I had booked a hotel room for just the two of us - we trekked there with our suitcases and were told when we finally arrived that they had moved us to their sister hotel in Notting Hill! That gave us a free taxi ride to where we are now and complimentary breakfast - which is great to safe money! So that is where we are now! Oh and we went to the Science Museum yesterday which was cool, alot of interactive things to do but kids were everywhere.
Today we went to London Bridge - which I didn't realise was blue! And then lots of walking. Had dinner again with Jillian tonight and have now settled in for the night.
We are off to Arsenal tomorrow for 5 nights and hopefully by then all our bank cards and pins will have been sent to Toms so then we'll head of to Lesley and then off to Bills in Birmingham! After that I think we'll go to France and then Munich for Oktoberfest, then Amsterdam. Think we'll head up to Norway too to see Brenton. We're planning on travelling with the 3 guys we met at the hostel for a bit too at some stage,2 of them want to meet up in Italy.
So yes having a blast, loving it and enjoying life unemployed!!
Also have had two guys offer us coke.. as in not the fizzy drink. Crazy geezers!! Don't worry we have refused, other wise I wouldn't be telling you! haha
Love you all
bye for now!
