Cambodia is now definitely my favourite country we've visited after the last couple of days! After a full days travelling on two uncomfortable buses and a number of tuk tuks we arrived at Siem Reap, the home of the 'eighth wonder of the world', the temples at Angkor. We gave ourself a full two days to explore the temples and hired a tuk tuk driver to take us round the huge site. We thought about hiring bicycles out but after reflecting on the size of the site and the sweltering heat we decided against it and I'm so glad we did! On the first day we visited temples on the grand circuit, the not so famous temples, each one of which would be the star attraction if it were anywhere else but at Angkor. On the second day we went for the big hitters, the main attractions which include Angkor Wat (the largest temple), Angkor Thom (a collection of temples within walls) and Ta Prohm (where Tomb Raider was filmed). Stunning ruins and each temple an amazing sight to witness! The town of Siem Reap itself is a lovely place, the traffic is much calmer and it feels safer than other places we have visited in Cambodia. The nightlife here is the best we've come across and we spent a brilliant night at the 'Temple Club' last night until the early hours of the morning- doesn't feel like such a good idea when you're up at 6.30am for a day of temple hopping in the blistering heat! We move on tomorrow with a long journey firstly to Bangkok then straight through to Koh Samui, one of the Southern Thailand islands. But first we need sleep!
