After last night today was always going to have a hard time comparing. As we took the ferry back to the main city of Venice my mind started to wander to the anticipation of seeing the things I had loved so much last night in the daylight. I was unfortunately let down. Venice has always been on water and it is really starting to take it's toll with mould on buildings and an air of dankness pervading the place, it has also hardly changed since it was first built so things are starting to fall apart a bit. Now don't get me wrong, it is still a beautiful magnificent place that I wouldn't hesitate to come back to, these are just my assessments from night to day. We did a LOT of shopping today buying many various pieces of souvenir goodness. We started out the day witnessing a glass blowing (Venetian or Murano is some of the most detailed glass in the world) demonstration which was very interesting and very skillful. This man took a piece of glass and made a perfect horse in about 2 minutes flat. We then had about 4 hours on our own and we went into St Marks basilica. The mosaics on the floors and roof were breathtaking and the treasury was full of all sorts of sparkly trinkets, the detail in the roof mosaics so intricate and delicate it would have taken forever to complete. We then wandered around the square and back streets looking St shop after shop of masks, glass and souvenirs. After we had wandered, had lunch and taken photos for our free time we went on a cruise to the island of Burano, where they specialize in making lace. Boring. Sal had fun though. We then have come back to the hotel and had dinner and a few beers, discussed a recent big Geelong win and are about to go to bed and have out last Italian breakfast in the morning. We will be in Vienna tomorrow so that will be good. Ciao bambinos

Courtney J. Wizard-Beard I remember Jimmy Dub saying something along the lines of: "In the end, Sam Taunt will be the best Taunt. He might be useless at the moment, but one day he will find something that he's amazing at, like Glassblowing. And then he'll be the best Taunt". Now picture Sam Taunt as a glass blower, that's the image I had in my mind as I read this blog post. Hilarious. Love and kiwi fruits to you both Xx
