I'm back in Thailand! Bangkok is a lot less crowded than I remember. I spent 1 night in Khaosan Road then bussed to Krabi. From all I heard, KSR was meant to be overcrowded with tourists and a right ball. All I can say to that is "Meh"... I liked the calm summer afternoon feeling I got there though. There were no $1 rooms like in Cambodia. :(
Today
- Got up and went wandering to find a post office hoping that thanks and hello would come back like riding a bicycle.
- Got overtaken by a line of bicycles on a bicycle tour.
- Had 4 hours to kill and talked to a girl who recommended a bicycle tour she did in 3 hours.
- Booked into said bicycle tour online.
- Arrived and got on my borrowed mountain bike and saw bits of Bangkok I never would have otherwise in a tiny time limit before my bus which I ran back for but didn't leave for another hour and half (and consequently travelled in a disgustingly sweaty state despite all the free cleansing wipes the bike tour company gave me)!
I knew I was changing buses at some point to save myself a quid but it turned out no one knew when so I didn't dare take my sleeping pill in case I missed it. There was not quite enough space for me as this bus was clearly designed for he native anatomy.
On the bike tour we went round Chinatown, crossed the river and scooted around a temple, Portuguese built school and finally ended up at my mortal nemesis; the flower market. All the flowers are transported at night so the place is open 24 hours (like 7eleven) and most of the sales are either to hotels or locals making offerings early in the morning. We also learned that here are over 100 types of banana in Thailand and there is a fruit nicknamed the king of fruit which is illegal in hotels because its smell is so strong... I saw a few scouts in Bangkok which reminded me that I will try to look up some scout groups in the English speaking countries that I plan to visit to take in some culture and get inspiration for my scouts and explorer scouts to try something new.

• Exhausted but intrigue to see what the south islands of Thailand will bring!...
Food: 1 boring green curry and a standard pad tai.
