Dad always said my room was a mess in England. If he saw this hotel room he would be eating his words. I guess it could be loosely described as 'unpacking from trekking and finding clean clothes to go out in'. Oh dear.
Moving on, the trek proceeded to improve with only one minor ankle trip (apart from the beds - bamboo with a solid futon and pillow - very little sleep was had but I had a massage yesterday which made me feel better than my visage of Valium). We played football with the locals in the village we stayed at (my kicks were badly aimed but almost took a kids head off) and set off to a viewpoint and bathing spot before arriving at the final waterfall with so wicked rapids.
The bruises I got from these rapids made sleeping that night even worse but. I I was the only one to go down ten but I went 4 times to make up for it, the last was the best because I knew when to hop over the sticky out bits! After dinner we had another fire and played a couple of drinking games and did some fire dancing courtesy of Pablo and Nico.
Yesterday we moseyed down the river on rafts, splashed water with the local kids and attempted to tan. Then we rode the elephants. When we got on there was a tremendous howl-grunt and we thought we had upset the bull... But it was just the baby elephant (Roebuck: they are just as great at you made them out to be) who was telling his mum to wait for him! I rode on the head of Poh and was fairly certain I was going I head dive into a huge pile of elephant dung, or the daddy's backside... I didn't, and proceeded to return to the hotel in one piece.

• One tired, sun kissed, happy, ready-to-go-to-Laos piece...
Last night: A great time was had meeting more great new people and getting our feet eaten by little fish, beer in one hand and camera in the other. And we went to Burger King to fulfil our late night munchers after dancing with some Aussies. Burger King do strawberry Fanta on tap and it is amaaaaaaaaaazing. I got back to the hotel and managed to do some quality skyping (ablh1990) due to the time difference.
Food: We had boiled egg, toast, jam and pineapple for breakfast, tasty thin noodles for one lunch and pot noodles for the other, and some kind of chicken curries with various additions for dinners. All very tasty. Oh and lots o Chang! I have also found the brightest coloured iced gems in the world for my next trip!
Today is dedicated to working out what I'm going I do to get to and do in Laos. After that I might go cycling and have a cookery lesson then check out the real night marked!

Fiona Hockin Presume you are checking out the real night market. Think I would prefer the rapids in an inflatable.
