When we arrived here yesterday is was past 11 and we were SHATTERED! We remedied this by going on the hunt for some local bars. We didn't find many but the one we did find managed to burn Lyn's quesadilla.
The streets of NOLA (stands for New Orleans, Louisiana) are something different from others in the world looking back. They were over hung by plants and trees and mardi-gras beads and inconsistently paved/cobbled/tarmacked. But they gave a homely feel which I guess is a good quality for a street to have!
Today we got much more out of the place. We wandered and wandered and chatted and chatted and though we were aiming for places we didn't particularly did them. Nola is a mysterious place. After wandering we found ourselves back into the throng, got a large grenade themed cocktail for Lynette and a hair cut for me.
Hair cuts in America are the best! He used about 5 different trimmers on the side of my head and continues to shade the rest of the hair on my neck/shoulder area. The guy didn't smile but it all felt very authentic. In fact the only conversation I could imagine us having would be mafia related...
During the wandering we:
- Saw filming for a movie (Hot Tub Time Machine 2 - we googled the 2 actors we recognised between us) (the one I recognised wasn't who I thought I thought it could be so actually made the task harder). I don't expect the film to be good but I will be watching it... For at least as long as that scene!
- Had long chats with lovely lady called Sunhine who was watching he bad for a friend and the guy next to me who was an insect terminator come musician. As you would expect to find in a wooden built cultural city. This was therapeutic for the mind.
- Reccied the bars ready for the evening. This is when the conversations about male strippers started.
Finally, I organised to meet with Ben but that mainly occurred later because of the lateness caused by the combination of me and Lynette combined. Fantastic to see the boy again after so long made so much the better as always seeing friends from home and reminiscing old antics! Ie jäger bombs.
