Arriving in Agnes Water at 8:45am after a long, and fairly drunken night bus journey from Airlie Beach - thanks to the after sailing knees up the night before - we had 24 hours to fit everything in before our bus to Hervey Bay. So we jumped on the shuttle bus to Southern Cross (our hostel for the night), checked into our room and almost immediately went back out again. Agnes Water is one of the cheapest places to learn to surf so we signed ourselves up for a 3 hour surf lesson for only $17!! an absolute bargain! So at 10:00 we went down to the surf shop and within the hour we were kitted up and being taught the basics. We had to go into the sea in two groups, rotating every 15mins. I managed to stand up a few times and steph did well getting to her knees and doing a bit of showmanship. It was so much fun even when the torrential downpour happened it didnt effect us but it was knackering though.
Tired and hungry we went back to the hostel after surfing and rustled up some cheap noodles and beans on toast before having to be ready by 3pm for our Scooteroo tour. This thing is amazing, and one of the most fun things we have done so far. You basically get to ride around the picturesque roads of Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 on these modified chopper motorbikes. They are so easy to ride, just twist and go - no gears - so you can ride them without a bike license. They give you all leather jackets and helmets so we all looked the part then toured around the area in a group of about 20 which was awesome. We saw loads of kangaroos and then stopped on the beach near the end for a drink and some potato wedges. It really was so much fun.
Shattered from an eventful, fun-packed day we crashed out at the hostel for an early night. Waking up at 7am in the morning we checked out and boarded our bus to Hervey Bay, the gateway to Fraser Island and our location for New Years!!
