Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka
Lisa Hi, I am planning a trip to Sri Lanka and also plan to stay in Polonnuruwa. I have saved your blog posts and have enjoyed reading them so far. Would you mind telling me where Emily's mum got food poisoning and also where you had this terrible meal, was it the guest house where you stayed? Many thanks, you never can be too careful! Lisa
re: PolonnurawuDad A Sounds like a super final few days. Opening ceremony was really good, you can catch up on iplayer!!
re: Nuwara Eliya, Sri LankaDa in Aussie Good to hear that the British Club still survives - it is the same in India - if it just about works don't fix it! Do they still have old Austin and Morris cars driving around or are they "upgraded" now. When Aine+me were there in 1982 still had old pre-war post-boxes to send your postcards home - postcards? like a do-it-tourself blog site - kind of a world wide web without the satellite dishes! Enjoy your tea.
re: Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lankasanju thats great..if you need to have experince like this vist us in trincomalee....call me +940712901630
re: UppuveliDad in Aussie For travellers with occasional tummy gyp you eat amazingly well - must be the diet of curry/beer/arrak!
re: Ella, Sri LankaA.Pickering Enjoy the next part of your adventure , we have really great memories of Nuwara Eliya. xx
re: Arugam, Sri LankaA.Pickering Hope you are feeling better , plenty water and plain rice ! If you can't do the dinner in the British Club House I think they used to do an afternoon tea-try that if you can. Enjoy the rest of the holiday xx
re: Kalkudah, Batticaloa, Sri LankaEm Hey dad. We didnt actually see any gov. run guesthouses? odd... maybe we were not looking in the right places. Had a wonderful time regardless :-)
re: Sigiriya, Sri LankaEm Yes it is indeed a face carved into the tree. For some reason the computer wouldnt let us upload our own photo so had to pick out of a existing album. This was the closest culuturally wise so used it just ignore the face!
re: PolonnurawuEm Hey parents. Dad a few people have mentioned the British club already sounds fun. We will be there in a few days before we go to Kandy! Thanks for the tip.
re: Kalkudah, Batticaloa, Sri LankaDad in Perth When you eventually get to Nuwara Eliya (your going clockwise round the island so I guess a while to go yet) I hope the British Club House still survives and if so candlelit dinner is a must - compulsory ties for Alex but there is/was an ante room with 100s of ties left by "Old Colonials" from yesteryear so No Worries or maybe a cravate if U R feeling like Noel Coward
re: Kalkudah, Batticaloa, Sri LankaDad in Perth, WA Getting a tad jealous - Perth does the beautiful blue seas but is way short on Palm Trees - does great sand dunes instead
re: UppuveliDad in Aussie Hey is that a face carved into the root of the tree in the photo or am I imagining things!
re: PolonnurawuDad in Aussie Hmm!Nilmini Lodge - have you come across any Govt.Guesthouses - they do great afternoon teas and you can amuse yourself at night time to get asleep watching the chess games the Geckos play on your bedroom ceilings
re: Sigiriya, Sri LankaMum & Dad Hope you've got something in the medical kit for 'funny tummy' and that all was sorted after a good sleep. Mum says look after yourselves properly!!
re: Kalkudah, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka- last visited
