Hi to anyone interested!,
Well,this will be my 4th? journey out into the unknown---well,actually,not that unknown,as I have travelled in SE Asia quite a bit--but this time will be concentrating on Diving--hopefully in as many sites as possible.
I suppose I ought to tell you about myself.I'm 59 years old,spent 30 years as a London Bobby,mostly the East End.I have three beautiful daughters,Wendy, Emily and Cindy--plus two Grandsons,Sam (Wendy's) and Owen (Emily's).I'm divorced,forever ago,I live in Purfleet on the outskirts of London on my own (Dammit!!!). I'm a motorcycle fan--in fact my only form of transport is a Suzuki 500--not the most impressive machine in the World,but it gets me about.
I retired from the Metropolitan Police in 2002,and immediately set off on a World trip for a year,Canada,Fiji,New Zealand,Australia,then around SE Asia.Learnt to dive in Fiji,and it has been my consuming passion ever since(only warm water though--can't quite get my head around these hardy British divers--Brrrrrrrrr!!!!
My Mum hasn't been too good of late,hence this trip will only be 3 months,but I got a return ticket from Airasia for £255 so I couldn't very well refuse.
I don't leave until September 2nd,so won't be adding much until then--just thought I ought to set it up so that I can inform friends--and maybe meet any readers who maybe in the same area,when I'm on the road.
This is probably one of the most boring intros on this site,but I've never bothered noting down my trips before,so I'm hoping this blog may help me remember the details of this one (Tiger Beer tends to blur details of past trips.)

12th August --update?
I looked at this site a little more carefully and realised it is complicated to update until I actually start travelling,so decided to add this note to preamble:- My travel plans are very fluid,KL for sure,then Tioman---but how long I stay is not set.Like I said,the whole point of the trip is Diving,so the itinerary very much depends on dive site conditions.I'd really like to explore more of Indonesia,having dived Bali,Gili Isles,and Flores but travel around Indonesia is not the easiest and my time on the trip comparatively short,so I will have to be guided by time factors (or wimping out of too arduous excursions--sorry!).
Actually,if any other divers stumble upon this Blog,I would welcome suggestions--I've already had to (probably?) leave out the Similan Islands,Thailand,as it'll be Monsoon season there, for most of my time away.
Counting the days at present--don't think I've ever planned a trip so far in advance before--usually last minute,so don't have to consider problems.At present I'm wondering about what equipment to take---only a 15kilo maximum load,and Dive gear weighs over 8 ---and that's without camera and other accessories.!!!
Oh well,back to fretting and counting days!! See you shortly,
