Cairns is a nice town and the climate in October is pretty sweet (about 30 degrees with a cooling wind, but can be quite cloudy). Stayed in the Hangout Hostel, which was a really nice place but a bit too quiet. I was expecting it to be bustling with people up for it, but theres a real laid back feeling about the place.
