This was an unusual last day in Lucerne - started out with a lovely guided, walking tour of the old town area.
There were beautiful medieval churches and cobblestoned streets and frescoed buildings. It was funny to see Gucci boutiques and Starbucks tucked inside 400-year old buildings.
We learned a great deal about Swiss history (perhaps more than we'll ever need), and it was truly incredible.
But the afternoon? That was the nail-biting part of this trip...
On the outskirts of Lucerne is Mount Pilatus - a 7,000 foot elevation monstrosity of awe-inspiring landscapes. To get to the top, you take the world's largest cogwheel train; to get back down, you take a cable car that swings and dangles for over 30-minutes of going-down time. And, get this, Art and I both did it!!
There are, what we think, magnificent photos of this trip up and down Mount Pilatus that we've uploaded here - we hope you enjoy!
Now, until tomorrow...
