Day 54: Saturday 9th April (by AJ).
Maru Wildlife Park!
We had an early start today for Chris's surprise day out as an early birthday present. It was lovely and sunny when we set off - even though it was forecast to rain! phew! First stop was a working farm where you could pet the cute calves and fluffy chickens (which I didn't pet!) and then Aunty bear treated us to a Devonshire cream tea with warm scones, jam and cream in the farm cafe.
Next stop was Maru wildlife park, which was amazing! We got to feed the kangaroos and also saw Tasmanian devils, koalas, dingos, parrots and a wombat - which Chris got to hold as a birthday present from Aunty Bear and Uncle Nick!
We then drove onto Phillip Island, stopping off for a picnic and ice-creams on the way - and the famous chocolate factory! We couldn't resist buying a few treats. We drove to surfers beach, and got absolutely soaked by the shock waves! Hilarious! The weather then took a turn for the worst so we headed back to Elsternwick in a horrible storm (although I slept the whole way!) Uncle Nick made us his famous chicken ceaser salad for tea - yum!
Day 55: Sunday 10th April.
Had a nice lie in this morning and a very chilled out day after our busy week. In the afternoon, Chris and I got the bus to St. Kilda to meet Pip and Shehan, plus some of their friedns for drinks and bargain pizza and wedges! Was a great backpackers atmosphere all along the street and the bars were buzzing!
Day 56: Monday 11th April. CHRIS'S BIRTHDAY!
Today started off with balloons and party poppers, then an amazing birthday breakfast out at 'Ednas cafe' with the biggest pancakes and fry ups ever!! Literally couldn't move after we had finished eating! Coffees all round - and Chris opened his cards and presents, a perfect morning! Plus we had beautiful sunshine! :)
We went to Frankston to see the sand sculpture exhibition of 'creepy crawlies'. The sculptures were amazing! We also had a quick stop at Chelsea beach on the way back and more coffees :)
That evening, Chris skyped home whilst Aunty Bear, Uncle Nick and I went down to the beach to watch the sunset along the boardwalk. We then had a proper aussi birthday tea with pies and sausage rolls followed by lots of buns and cakes! An amazing day :)
Day 57: Tuesday 12th April.
We had a fantastic brunch out with Aunty Bear today at Loco cafe (a new favourite!) then had a look around the Elsternwick shops. That afternoon, we gave Roy a little outing around Melbourne and drove to see Matt at his restaurant, The Point. Chris loved driving around the aussi grand prix circuit! We also had a lovely walk around the lake. That evening, we watched the inbetweeners on you tube, which was hilarious! Then we played a game of 'sorts' which was equally hilarious ... and I won ;) (which was a complete fluke!)
