Day 47: Saturday 2nd April. Melbourne, Australia.
We got the bus into St. Kilda today for a walk past the many cafes and bakery's before getting the tram into the city centre. As luck would have it AJ's camera miraculously started working again just as we were about to send it off to the manufacturer, so that was a stroke of luck.
Another great lunch in the city followed by a walk to Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and Federation Square, a great way to spend the afternoon.
Day 48: Sunday 3rd April. Melbourne, Australia.
We went for breakfast out at the Docklands today, yet more pancakes for AJ!!! Then we headed to the Etihad stadium to watch our very first game of live Australian Rules Football (Odd sport, very odd!). The stadium was very impressive and we got to grips with the rules after Nick patiently told us what the hell was happening! Once we understood we loved it, such a strange game but so much fun to watch and the crowd were good fun as well.
After the game we headed to the Italian quarter of Melbourne where we had some amazing food and then Ice-Cream again. We had been thoroughly spoilt that day. Fantastic time!
Day 49: Monday 4th April. Melbourne, Australia.
Today was a mass sort out day which required us searching for the best deals to help us on our East Coast Adventure beginning later that week. A nlovely walk through Elsternwick to get some fresh air and groceries before cooking tea for Zoe and Nick that evening.
Day 50: Tuesday 5th April, Melbourne, Australia.
Today we headed back into the city centre for a tour of the MCG! It was incredible, so many people had recomended it to us and it proved to be fantastic. The views were immense, the facilities top-notch and the whole vibe of the place after England won the Ashes there weeks before hand made it an even more special experience! We toured the Australian Sports Museum afterwards which was equally as spectacular, they really do have such a rich history of sport. As much as I hate the Aussie's when it comes to sport, you can't help but admire their attitude towards it and their desire to win at all costs! Still don't like them though! Haha!
That afternoon we met up with the Carnells for coffee after they had finished work for a much needed catch up session which was great fun and they showed us a some parts of the city which we loved.
Myself and AJ then headed for a walk along the river with the sun setting inbetween the buildings and skyscrapers which was great for pictures. Next stop was to meet up with Pip and Shehan for a few drinks in a bar along the river before getting the tram back to Elsternwick to meet up with Zoe and Nick for what can only be described as the largest meal known to man! It was heaven, so much meat! Food heaven! Great end to the day!
