We did it..made it to the final destination big high 5 for us!
Flight was delightful and then we we're greeted at the airport by Lucy Ben and dale holding a sign saying future mr and mrs Cooksey aka the gypsy backpackers- Lucy thrust a card and a pandora charm in my hands as an engagement present how delightful!
So on the drive to their apartment Ben gave us a brief tour whilst whiz zing down the sheik zayed road which is the big 7 lane motor way going through Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
Lucy and Ben live by Dubai marina in the most amaziiiiiing apartment. Marts jaw dropped when we walked in as it's something he's always described. Modern, big tv all the football channels, floor to ceiling windows over looking the beach big balcony and 3 ensuite bedrooms. Obviously being an Arab country they'd done a beer run and spent £300! The fridge and cupboards we're very we'll stocked!
We ended up doing a pub crawl of of jbr district we we're all so drunk. I got extremely emotional about it all an started crying.
Following night as our second engagement present Lucy an Ben took us to the worlds tallest hotel - jwr Marriott to a bar that had a view of the burj kalifa. Happy hour cocktails and cigars went down a treat! We then headed downstairs for food before stumbling home.
The days we spent at the beach watching the camels (very nice beach btw) or at the pool which has the most comfy sun loungers!
Me and Lucy have dedicated ourselves to going to the gym for Lucy's wedding diet- the gym has the most insane view 50 floors up..view of the palm! Certainly makes working out easier!
We had a quiet night in the following night hard life of sunbathing followed by mass amounts of dominos pizza (it's very cheap here).
There been a lot of tanning. A lot of talking and a lot of laughing going on.
Ben went to Qatar for work so Lucy took us to the gold souq in old town Dubai...we parked and got the abra which is an old wooden boat across the river. We headed to the spice souq first and brought some spices then got all my touristy things I needed- postcards pin sunglasses. It's what I imagined Dubai would of been like 50 years ago!
We then headed back and stopped off for a bag of Indian treats - pakora somosas and a carb explosion and a shwarma - chicken with yoghurt in a wrap it's amazing!
We then had a tanning day following by ladies night at barasti the beach bar (50 dirhams for all you can drink for women's). And as Tammy lives here and I haven't seen her either she decided she was coming too! Turned up and they said they've stopped ladies night as the weathers now too hot. Gutted. So the girls stayed in the apartment an made cocktails and dale and mart went out and didn't get back until 5am!
I just sunbathed and then helped Lucy out cleaning and shopping today. We headed to the mall of Emirates - still find it hilarious they have a ski slope and real penguins in the mall. Ski Dubai!
Lucy explained to me all about the deal with the number plates on cars over here..basically the lower the number the more important you are..so the sheik is number 1. So far I've seen 31 I got pretty excited about that!
Got such lovely plans Coming up I'm very excited about it all! We very much LOVE Dubai!
