Well what a difference time makes.
settled into sydney..marts comfy at work... i have myself a job..working for medicare signing people up to getting their records electronic, had new managers recently and they've put targets on everyone..you have to get 35 a day or your fired basically..i do it but it just makes me panic so im not enjoying it that much. BUT i do get to work with emily and i do earn a lot too!
Sorted out an amazing apartment from 1st december - pool, gym, wifi, foxtel, they even threw in a xmas tree! lovely couple we've been out with them 4 or 5 times now.
so what have we been up to in this last month...
Working 9-5 has actually really suited us which a surprise. and the ozzies are pretty big into their 'hump day' here...this is a wednesday...because by the end of it your over tthe hump and everyone goes for beers.
We spent one weekend at the beach...got the bus down to coogee made a massssive burger on the bbq and then did the coastal walk all the way to bondi which is beautiful. there was an art project called sculptures by the sea that day so it was absolultly rammed with chinese people and massive cameras!!
We also had date night up the west field tower which was pretty, had some very expensive drinks overlooking the whole of sydney at night - you can see for 80km!
We had to sort out new years eve... went to book opera bar tickets and they had sold out :( ...so we drove down to milsons point which is over the harbour bridge (we live in north sydney at the moment so we have to cross the bridge to get into the city anyways) its a beautiful point where you can look across the water at the CBD, bridge and opera house all lit up. we then walked over the bridge and spent the evening bar hopping in the rocks and circular quay to try and find somewhere as good for new year. We got abit desperate as the tickets were the same price and the views werent half as good, you could see half the bridge or you werent guarenteed to be let outside. we sat in one bar and i was pretty miserable, mart was telling me it was a good idea to book there and i said i wasnt happy paying all that money for somewhere not as good - he went very stropped. so off i marched - i didnt tell him where iw as going he thought i was being moody, i went to opera bar and pretty much begged for tickets...thank god i had my credit card on me as they let me buy 6!
next weekend we took a drive up to palm beach where they film home and away - watched a wedding. mart took me up florida drive (he delivers parcels up there for work) 10 million dollar houses which are all ridiculous to look at!!
We also went to the sydney vs melbourne match.... we went with eveyone from the hostel and was a little worse for wear. mart had gone on a football march first - they passed around hymn/chant sheets so everyone new what was going on! the cove which is the section we were in was mental, a lot of beer being chucked around! and sydney won 3-2.
other than this we've been pottering around chatswood which is 90% chinese. discovering bars and random sushi places. been SO good getting paid i can actually shop again! got to save loads of xmas and new year as we have big plans!
went for some food at darling harbour last night...beautiful setting heaps of bars! they have fireworks every saturday which is cool. however on our way home we got caught in a huge storm..our bus flooded! never seen lightning like it! storm is meant to last all week and then fingers crossed the weather is better as we want to go to randwick races next weekend and to manly beach.
have no internet at the chatswood place which is terrible - did not know how much i relied on it... need to start planning our asian adventure. however when we move into waterloo on the 1st december we have wifi again!
doesnt feel much like xmas here at the moment...weird hearing xmas songs and it being boiling hot?? however mart has discovered a xmas warehouse by the new apartment that we are going to kit the the place out in!
probably wont be blogging for a while now...do another collective one just before xmas i think! then regular blogs will occur when we are on the move again :)
