'Morning everyone! Welcome to my new blog, where pictures are allowed! Woo-hoo!
On to all the catching up I have to do...
Tuesday afternoon, I took off to do some solo exploring around the Carlsbad Caverns. The 7 mile scenic route in was pretty cool but even cooler was having a small lunch 754 feet below the surface. After that was the ranger guided tour through what is called King's Palace. Pretty impressive cave system overall, maybe on the way back I can get on one of the wild tours to get down and dirty.
After all of that was said and done, I headed back to my host for some more chats and the off on my own sunset hunt. I have a thing for nature photography and I literally chased the setting sun all over the place. Got some awesome photos too as those of you on Facebook have already seen. I wasn't sure which town in was in on the way back so I blindly followed the directions given by my loaned GPS, named Sally. Everything was good until I was supposed to take a left turn into an empty field...note to self, always follow your instincts.
Eventually, I showed up back at my hosts' home and shortly after dinner, I ran into all kinds of drama with my iPad and travel blog...that's how I eventually ditched Travel Pod.
Fast forward to today...sitting at Winfield's coffee shop in Scottsdale, AZ and learning how to use this blogging app, Off Exploring. I have lost my sense of time and I'm constantly looking my watch reminding myself of the day and date.
In the last 4 days, I have driven over 1200 miles through forests and over mountains, in-between dusts storms and through a couple of my own, over a couple of small canyons...and I'm only in Arizona. I'm having a blast seeing all of this, but it's so much to take in; hence the reason I will not be in California until Sunday, gotta rest a bit and get my bearings, still have up to 5 more weeks of this. Overwhelming adventure, that's how I would coin this.
