So I haven't even written much about what I did in Fiji. Now I seem to have a bit of time so I can briefly fill ya in on the excitement.
I landed in Fiji and boy was it hot! The humidity was pretty crazy and I instantly started sweating. Driving to the resort was like driving in mexico with slightly run down houses and shacks lining the street, stores with bars on all the windows and doors and kids running around with no shirt or shoes on. It wasn't that shocking to see. When I arrived at the resort, I was not impressed. I think that had alot to do with the fact that my first tropical holiday experience was in Mexico at a 5 star hotel where my sister got married. I had high expectations even though I was backpacking I guess. It was a pretty nice place though. Can't really complain too much. 2 swimming pools, pretty decent restaurant with reasonably priced food and the staff were really really friendly. My room the first night was so gross though. I stayed in the regular 8 bed dorm that had a fan. When I decided to go to bed, i discovered TONS of ants crawling in through the window and down the wall to the floor. My bed was of course, right by the window. I was so grossed out and really worried that they would end up crawling into my bed so I decided to deal with it. I took out my insect repellent stick and put some on the window ledge, around every leg of my bed and around the corners of the windows. It worked!!! I was so happy! But the next issue was the heat. There were 2 fans in the room and they really didn't do much. I was sweating from places I have never sweat from before! So gross! I slept on top of the sheets with my towel to wipe it away.
The next day was my pool day. Time to chill out and relax around the pool. I met some Americans and we hung out and had lunch together. We were all going to be on the Feejee Experience the next day so we had something in common and were going to be travelling together for 4 days.
(internet up - will finish soon!)
