Spent the weekend in Yulara, the Uluru tourist resort. As the accomodation was extremely expensive (I was told that the hostel is the most expensive in all of Australia) we decided to camp as the campsite had all the amneties and even a swimmimg pool (which actually turned out to be much needed even at the beginning of Autumn). As we were extremely on a budget we took the Uluru Explorer which takes you to the Kata Tjutas and Uluru. We walked around (a decent 9 k's) and saw the sunset and sunrise which was definitely beautiful.
Probably the highlight was the camel ride in the dessert. As we went for the day one (as opposed to the sunset/sunrise camel ride) we were the only ones there and were able to chat up our gorgeous guide (bless his cotton socks) and ask questions rather than be stuck with 30 other tourists (no offence). Leo, our camel was very well mannered and well-behaved. As we didn't have our own transport we couldn't move around easily but overall the experience was eye-opening and definitely worth it.
There are the usual things normally found at resorts like post office, shop, info centre, take-away, restaurant and gift shop. There were a couple of bars around the resort too.
