In Exeter, updating my blog having arrived back from Brisbane on Tuesday and realising I'm forgetting everything already! But my last time in Brisbane was spent enjoying the night life in the West End, being a guest at Pete Mumby's birthday party which was definitely full of suprises. Al was DJing like a pro and people were dancing, and even though it was winter they still managed to have everyone outside on the decking with a bbq and wine- jealous of their amazing weather!! The party only ended after numerous dance offs and cheesy 70s music when Pete finally thought that his neighbours might not enjoy the music too.
Renata, Iliana, Jaret and Manuel and I all went to the EKKA exhibition in Brisbane to see what all the fuss was about. It's basically like the Devon County Show with lots of food demonstrations, and freebies like Lamingtons and chillis and wine, lots of horse demonstrations, cattle and poultry showings and more people showing off their dogs and cats- including one that looked just like Ernie and another that looked just like Monty!! We indulged in a Dagwood Dog as Andrea had said I couldn't not try one, it was prettygood if you don't think about it too much, a bright pink hotdog covered with batter, deep fat fried and dunked in ketchup oh yeah and served on a stick! Everyone was walking around with one, that and chocolate dipped strawberries, had to try some of those too.
Managed to suprise Jaret at work with birthday Lamingtons complete with birthday candles which did result in slightly waxy Lamingtons, before catching my flight back to the UK! A 3 hour bus ride later and I'm in Exeter and it's like I've never been away. Looking forward to starting my PGCE now and catching up with all my family and friends.
