Hey all
We're a bit happier than in our last blog now. After the disaster of Frazer Island camping we were offered a free day trip to go and see the REAL sights of Frazer island. So after hitch hiking off of the island the day before…we then decided to go back…but this time with a big monster 4x4 bus! It was very hardcore. We saw a dolphin on the ferry crossing and that started what ended up being a wonderful day.
We went to Lake McKenzie which is a fresh water lake on the island…but because the island is a sand dune, it gave the impression of being on a beach…but with fresh water instead of salt water. It was fantastic and we had such a great time there.
After we went for a nice lunch and then off to the Maheno shipwreck and the pinnacles. At this point we had the opportunity to take a scenic flight over the island…and with the s*** time we had before we decided to take it! It cost $70 each but we didn't care. We had a really enjoyable day and in the evening the new OZ bus turned up and bought one of our friends that we had met along our way…so we had a bit of a drunken night…and needless to say…if you know lee at all…..you will have guessed he slept on the bathroom floor last night. He just can't take it!
We got up this morning and headed off for Brisbane. We went via Noosa which turned out to be very nice indeed..but due to time pressures we couldn't stop. But still we did have a little stop. We then got to Brisbane at 1:30pm and we headed into our hostel: The Palace embassy…which has turned out to be very nice…so we are staying on here until Holly leaves.
The plan tomorrow is just to get a feel for the city and then on Thursday we are planning to Go to Australia zoo which is obviously famous as it was pioneered by Steve Irwin and his wife still runs it! So we thought it would be crazy to be here and not to go and see it.
Hope you are all well…Miss you all terribly
By the way our phones are back on working now so you can call us and text us free.
Lots of love Kirst and Lee
