Hi everyone.
Hope you are all well.
We arrived in Queenstown after a long days driving from the Milford sound, back via Te Anau. We decided to stop off at lake Manapouri where we did a short hike of about 2 hours. It was very nice walk.
Queenstown being the home of the bungee jump and being a Mecca for backpackers...I had my reservation as to what Queenstown itself would be like. I was very mistaken as Queenstown was beautiful with very panoramic scenery! We decided the following day to hit the Gondola station and head up for the sights from the top of Queenstown hill. It was beautiful. Really picturesque.Mind you there was one down side…I had to put up with Lee's depression as he watched the surrounding mountains…with skiers and boarders on. His little face looked like someone had taken his sweeties away. But we have decided to budget a little and make the most out of the beautiful things that NZ has where nowhere else has. So snowboarding is on hold a little…but not for long I am sure.
To cheer himself up we decided to do the Luge. This involves two 800m long tracks which run down the side of the mountain….which you do on a little sledge. DO NOT BE MISTAKEN….this was no slow track. The advanced circuit saw Lee and I fighting to the bitter end…and edge.
Eventually of course I won both times…Which Lee was not happy about! And is still trying to figure out valid reasons why he lost! I am just built for speed on the track. Watch out Lewis Hamilton.
After Lee got out of his sulk…we ventured to the town below where we explored. It was such a nice feeling…all the bars had log fires…people drank mulled wine by the bucket load. It again…felt like Christmas.
Lots of Love
Kirsty and Lee
